Space Corps stories

Space Corps is a sprawling saga that functions a little like Star Trek, Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings all rolled into one.  I've been working on it for many years, and have many stories to tell.  These are some of them:

Quagmire
Excerpt from the legend concerning the Alliance of Five, whose search for the mystical source of interplanetary travel gave birth to the Galactic Alliance.  (Please note, "when the facts don't support the legend, print the legend" applies.)  Published in my short story anthology almost entirely culled from tales found here at Sigild, Monorama.

Warship 1 & 2
Brief introduction to one of the central conflicts of the saga, between humans and the Danab, and featuring some of the early human involvement in the Space Corps.

Who Killed Iron Joe?
Carrie Arosen, who will soon be better known as friend and ally of Lance Nolan and Robert Drummond, is here the alleged assassin of Fialkov, Danab governor of Magnumtown.
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9, Part 10, Part 11, Part 12

The Assassination at Magnum
Basically that same story, condensed and contextualized.  A good way to catch up on some relevant Space Corps lore.

The Monastery at Burnside
Flash fiction involving Lord Phan, previously featured in "Quagmire," as well as Lance Nolan, who stars in Seven Thunders, the first book in the Space Corps saga.  See note for Terrestrial Affairs below.

Use Both Hands
A tale from the First Danab War, otherwise known as the Calamity, humanity's first contact with aliens, the Danab invasion, and how the legacy of one of Earth's heroes continues to affect his daughter years later.  See the note for Terrestrial Affairs below.

Seventy-One and Counting
Another tale from the First Danab War, featured in Mouldwarp Press Presents #1 "Project Mayhem," edited by me.

Darkness Falls on a Dark Land
A kind of revision of Enigma of the Dawn, where "Quagmire" came from.
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9, Part 10, Part 11, Part 12

The Cuban Exile Crisis
A short story featured in the Big Pulp anthology The Kennedy Curse.  It concerns an episode of the First Danab War and an unlikely hero in unlikely circumstances.  You can purchase the book here!

Slightly Fitted
The latest snippet from the First Danab War.  It's interesting to me that for so long I didn't really know anything about this crucial conflict, and now I've shaped so much of it, and as a result have pegged the last book in the series on it, a fitting bookend to Seven Thunders.

One Size Fits All
A reworked, expanded version of "Slightly Fitted."

The main event:
Side trips:
  • Rue the Day - Short story.  To be included in a forthcoming anthology.
  • Terrestrial Affairs - Love story.  You can purchase it here!  Also includes "The Monastery at Burnside" and "Use Both Hands."
The sequence:
  1. Collider - A prelude to Seven Thunders.
  2. The Lady of the Horde - A sequel to Seven Thunders.
  3. A Tremor of Bones - A tale of the Coalition War.
  4. Heathen Works - A tale of the Earth as a battlefield.
  5. Outlaws - A tale of wild space.
  6. The Second Coming - A tale endings and beginnings.
  7. The Golden Enigma - A tale of humans and Danab.
  8. The Calamity - A tale of the First Danab War.
  9. A Soldier of Distant Stars - A love story.

  1. Sounds really epic! I love stories that have a deep mythology to explore, and it sounds like you really have this one worked out

    1. At some point this year I'll be releasing a volume of these short stories, including the complete sequence (although the sequence itself isn't complete, like the Canterbury Tales) that "Quagmire" comes from.
